View of the front showing the large elevation change, Pyracantha being to grow up it's wire trellis, and large native trees which surround the new house.
-
View looking directly towards the house and yard from across the street showing the soft curvature of the beds and turf with large native trees and new trees added.
-
View showing the drastic slope in the front yard, along with the mixture of different grasses, groundcovers, turf and trees scattered throughout.
-
Overhead view from the front porch looking down on front yard and beds. A mixture of Mondo grass leading to Weeping Love grass take up the majority of the front beds, with several Maples and Dogwoods scattered below the large native tree canopies.

View looking back uphill on the outside of the back yard wall. The entire back yard drains towards the inlet being shown, along with severe slope behind the wall. These areas all flow towards another 4' tall retaining wall at the street level where we tied in sub-suface drainage to exit out of and onto the street. Due to the homeowner needing soil retention behind this wall and for the plant material plant all along the wall we designed and installed a functional dry creek bed with large boulders placed strategically so as to make sure soil and plantings were properly retained.

This photo shows the view below a native grove of trees looking back towards the front. We installed a solid Holly hedge to hide the neighbors back yard on the left side, with a flagstone pathway set in groundcover making your way back to the front. The is the only service access for maintenance crews, etc. so making sure it's walkable along this hillside was important.

View as you walk towards the back yard entry gate. A raised bed with soft grass was designed to soften the clean, linear feel to these concrete pads set in gravel. Large native vegetation sits along the backside of the existing wall, where we also filled in with plant material to match the native vegetation and give a look of natural serenity.

Your first view as you enter into the back yard showing new raised planting beds below the large existing retaining wall holding up the native vegetation atop the hillside behind the home. The client desired evergreens and soft plantings to be set behind the wall that would begin to cascade over the wall to soften it's new look.

After view looking back on the back yard entry and fire pit area. Evergreens surround the built-in fire pit seat wall and begin to cascade over the newly constructed retaining wall. The turf gives a gentle slope from the back pool deck towards the back corner bed giving perfect variation in tight space.
-
Overhead view from the upstairs balcony looking onto the fire pit, pool and back yard. The clean, linear lines really begin to show themselves which were designed and softened by lush variations of evergreen shrubs and trees. A clean dark Polished Mexican Beach Pebble was designed to be used between large concrete pads in the pool deck so as to match the dark colors in the pool.

View looking down from the upstairs balcony directly onto the pool and lawn. The turf was precisely graded and laid so as to give a seamless transition from concrete to grass.
-
Before view looking back towards the house where you can see the importance from the client to really invite the outdoors in with large windows and balconies. The client tasked us early to design and plant large planter below the three windows on the bottom right side so as to really give a stunning view directly from their living room there.

After photo showing the Polished Mexican Beach Pebbles between concrete pads, turf meeting the concrete seamlessly, Bamboo in a planting bed against the house and three large Wok planting bowls with Beautiful Agave and Moneywort against the three living room windows in the background.
