This beautiful home sites on 130 acres in Southern Delaware County. The property has rolling hills, a man-made pond and open meadows.
-
We manicure cut 10 acres each week along the driveway, around the house and ponds.
-
Seasonal color is planted in a few key locations to add that burst of color, like here by the front door.
-
A six step fertilization program helps to maintain a healthy looking lawn. Maintaing crisp bed lines along any landscape and walkway edges is essential to the finished product. The tiny gravel pathway that wraps around the back of the house is raked each week to keep from spilling into the lawn and maintained within its parameters.
-
The ground covers throughout most of the beds are allowed to spill over the paavement edges to keep the natural look. Due to the number of perennials throughout the beds, we do not apply any pre-emergent herbicides, so beds are weeded manually on a weekly basis.
-
The perennial beds throughout the property are deadheaded on a weekly basis.
-
Each spring all landscape beds and trees are edged by hand to create a nice deep edge. The beds are mulched with an Organic Hardwood Mulch, which provides a nice dark brown color and will also breakdown each year, adding nutrients to the soil.
-
The boxwood and taxus hedges are pruned selectively by hand. This allows us to keep them shaped neatly but look more natural.
-
With the exception of just a couple beds, most of the seasonal color planted around the property is done with Containers.
-
They provide seasonal interest at the sitting areas. Each year we mix up the color palette and plant varieties.
-
In the fall we transition containers in the front of the house to mums, cabbages and pansies.
-
In late November we will change them out again for the holidays. In early January we will pull out any decorative material and leave the greens to provide some color through the winter months.
-
Maintaining the manicured lawn and nice trimmed transitions help set apart the turf from the landscaping.
-
A few sections of the property make mowing and maitenance a little more challenging. In addition to the slopes along the pond edge, the rocks placed throughout the lawn force us to use a push mower, as larger mowers will not fit in the tight spaces.
-
Many man hours go into maintaining the property on a weekly basis, but the results are a welcoming landscape that the client enjoys all year.
