Beyond the ponds and prairie, and behind a heavy line of new trees, Uline’s new corporate headquarters sits at the center of 200 acres of a meticulously developed landscape.
-
A dramatic "before" photo shows the humble beginning of this project, with construction just starting in an open field near the interstate.
-
Even the full landscape plan does not do justice to the size and scope of this project.
-
A view from a balcony in the corporate office includes a portion of the massive warehouse, plus the woods, prairie and the largest of the ponds near completion.
-
The entry at “the Lodge” sets the tone with large trees and boulders. Additional planting beds are colorful and inviting without being overly showy.
-
Just as the front architecture of the building welcomes you into this impressive company, the same design on the back welcomes you to explore and appreciate the impressive landscape.
-
The view from Uline’s back patio is a spectacular scene worthy of the locale … Pleasant Prairie! While the establishment of native plantings areas took time, it was worth the wait.
-
A million square feet of warehouse is buffered by a heavy line of new pines and native flowers. Walking paths connect the facilities and wind through the huge corporate property.
-
A huge field stone wall was built to define the property line between this site and adjacent farmland, and to accommodate an additional path around this outlying pond.
-
Free-standing stone walls also add distinction at the main entry. They, like the large but newly planted trees, look mature beyond their years.
-
The main entry features large beds of annuals and ornamental grasses. Like the company itself, they are precise and practical, and very well suited to Wisconsin’s business landscape.
-
Great attention was even given to the parking lots: what could have been acres of asphalt is a grid of paths and pocket gardens.
-
The scope of this landscape is difficult to capture in pictures, but there are many places on campus where the office and massive warehouse are nowhere in site.
-
Love of both nature and art are evident throughout the site, which is the perfect “gallery” for the owner’s eclectic sculpture collection.
-
A final photo showcases the key elements in this amazing landscape – perfect ponds, winding paths, hundreds of large trees and boulders and wildflowers as far as the eye can see.
