This is the original design of the space. The goal was to create a space that the residents could use and would match their lifestyle of entertaining and leisure activities. We also wanted to utilize some of the existing structures but repurpose them to match the elegance of Meridian Buckhead.
-
As you walk out to the terrace level, you are greeted by the event lawn and open space the is framed by the Atlanta skyline. The landscape is a mixture of contrasting textures, heights, and colors to create a seemingly greater depth to the space.
-
Before: An uninviting amenity space with broken drainage and uneven patio was a space avoided by residents.
-
After: We repurposed unusable patio in to a putting green, utilizing the existing hardscape to create an oasis of plant material.
-
After2: The putting green opens to a beautiful view of the skyline and repurposed shade structure that was once the focal point, is now an accent among the landscape.
-
Before: Existing planters were overgrown, creating a closed-in feel and safety hazard.
-
After: We repurposed some of the planters on the corners to create a more inviting and open feel. We demolished center planters and installed an event lawn.
-
Before: Tight spaces and confusing layout of sitting wall and planters along with large metal overhangs created an outdated look with few amenities besides the space itself.
-
After: We repurposed the area under the metal half-dome from a broken fountain to a fire pit and seating area for residents to enjoy.
-
The event lawn creates an open space for entertaining. The color bed in the raised planter is a repurposed fountain to alleviate some of the drainage problems from before.
-
The annual color bed was once a fountain that caused major water consumption and drainage problems for the client. When we created the color bed, we placed pots in the planter for a surprise shine and to create extra height in all seasons.
-
One of the two grill amenities built in to a space that was previously an area that housed only broken tables with barren landscape. This area is now able to be enjoyed.
-
A built-in bench to sit back and enjoy the landscape and the city in between shots on the putting green while dinner cooks on the grill. This built in where a serene bench is now, was previously where the only grill in the complex was.
-
Before: The walls were structurally unsound and created safety hazards for residents. The drains were not placed properly and caused problems after rain or running the irrigation systems.
-
Looking out over the space is a beautiful view of the event lawn, fire pit area, putting green, and second grill space with landscape throughout. The pockets of trees, shrubs, ground cover, and seasonal color make each amenity feel private while still being open to enjoy the sunlight and city skyline.
