Our homeowners' main objective is to let things organically and naturally grow in and train over time. As you can see with two full years of growth, our boxwoods are starting to create a hedge, creating a beautiful intricate pattern.
-
Our walkways that lead us to the back area are taken care of to have statement pieces throughout so something catches your eye no matter where you are. Containers that have color, beautiful trees, and stunning stone all draw your eye to different layers of the landscape.
-
Creating different rooms and spaces was a focal point for our client so that there were multiple spaces to congregate. Small spaces were maximized and maintained to keep them connected but give a sense of privacy.
-
The lot that this house was on dropped steeply into the back area, calling for some creative ways to get to the back. Adding in multiple layers, stairs, and a deck helped it not feel so drastic. Maintaining layers in the perennials is a season to season job, making sure we have correct pruning practices and windows.
-
Our client originally wanted a sport court but decided to add a secret garden and it is now their favorite area. Maintaining a “wild but groomed” garden is the goal. Our crews are on the same page and make sure that they prune, but very little and only do so when it really calls for it.
-
With many interesting pots, sculptures, and plant material, making sure we have lighting on and nothing blocking it helps our homeowners be able to see their landscape at all times. The formal hedge and the informal lavender create a dichotomy of soft and hard that is quite stunning.
-
Our clients were adamant about putting in a greenhouse and it is an often used aspect in their secret garden. She will propagate her own flowers and then plant them around her greenhouse, and then she loves to sit among her garden and relax while enjoying what she helped create.
-
The secret garden also features four vegetable planter boxes. Every year the homeowners split them up and are in charge of their own area. We help support by giving suggestions, weeding, and making sure they have correct watering practices to help them enjoy their homegrown veggie garden.
-
There are multiple elements that are viewable from their house with the floor to ceiling windows. The climbing roses were planted last year and have grown incredibly well due to water, plant health care, and pruning at the right time.
-
The view here emphasizes the layers seen throughout the garden. Making sure to look from all angles, our crew maintains these by using stringline where needed, hand pruning roses, and helping to train the material in patterns where a pattern is wanted.
-
Adding in a soft pop of color helps our greens be more green and the house stand out. With many different types of material, we have to be aware of irrigation run times and start times, adding in hand watering when needed during the dry months.
-
Each room is highlighted with a different purpose. A hot tub to relax, a pool to play, a firepit to gather with family, and a secret garden to enjoy the quiet moments. Each area is unique and must be taken care of in a different way, paying particular attention to shade, sun, and traffic, our crews and property care managers come together to make a plan every week on how to best maintain this stunning property.
