As you walk the grounds, picture-perfect St Augustine turf greets you from every direction. Live Oak, Pecan, Burr Oak, Bald Cypress, and Red Bud trees provide plenty of shade from the hot Texas sun.

Walking through the south side of the grounds you are once again greeted with an assortment of trees and St Augustine turf. Crepe Myrtle, Peach, Pecan, Red Oak, Red Bud, Magnolia, and Monterrey Oak trees and Ligustrum are pictured here.

The main entrance to the Capitol greets you with a beautiful array of color, featuring purple Lantana, red Salvia, Society Garlic, Begonias, Lambs Ear, Pride of Barbados, Spider Lilies, Texas Sotol and Copper Canyon Daisy’s. The landscape is back dropped by Burford Holly, Live Oak and Crepe Myrtle trees, while St Augustine turf thrives in the foreground.

Statues and memorials litter the grounds and are surrounded by a variety of plants and shrubs. Shown here is the “Tejano” monument, which is accented with Boxwood, Red Yucca, Blue Agave, Agarita, Soft Leaf Yucca, Sotol and Pink Skullcap.
