We have maintained this property since we originally installed the landscaping in 2006.
-
The outer patio flows directly into the back lawn, where we keep the edges trimmed each week, including around the stepping stones in the foreground.
-
The backyard lawn is open and very lush. Many lacrose games are played in the open space.
-
A view from the middle of the backyard back towards the house. The landscaping is maintained to reflect the natural setting in which it sits.
-
There are numerous perennials throughout the landscaping. The landscape beds are weeded and deadheaded during each weekly visit. THe homeowner loves to see the Gold Finches, so we will keep the heads of the coneflower around for them to eat the seeds.
-
There are numerous landscape beds with combinations of shrubs, perennials and ground covers. We keep the pachysandra close enough to the stone to maintain the path, but allow it to massively fill the ground plane.
-
The landscape bed at the driveway entrance is planted iwth summer annuals for a welcome display. The cannas and salvia are deadheaded on a weekly basis or as needed.
-
The front walk to the house is a key location for seasonal color, planted in both the beds and containers.
-
We make seasonal changes to the two containers by the front door, three times a year.
-
In early December we add mixed evergreens and some holiday accents. After the holidays we will remove the decorations and leave the greens for winter interest.
-
We selectively hand prune all plant material on the property. this allows us to keep them shaped neatly but look more natural. We prune into the plants to keep air and light going into the plants so they do not dieback on the insides.
-
Each Spring all landscape beds and trees are edged by hand to create nice deep crisp edges. The edges are maintained throughout the year by trimming during the weekly maintenance visits. The large ground cover beds are maintained within the bed limits and weeded regularly.
-
Here is a view from a far corner of the property. The tree canopies are limbed up and thinned to keep some views open to the house. During the height of the summer when the canopy becomes thicker it is hard to keep the grass from thinning, as seen in the foreground. Tree rings are enlarged to keep them in scale with the size of the trees.
-
Many hours go into maintaining the property on a weekly basis. The large open estate layout with the large mature trees allows for a natural feel to the landscaping around the entire property.
-
The results are a welcoming and beautiful landscape that the client enjoys all year.
