The east section of the Capitol grounds boasts an over 200-year-old Live Oak tree. St Augustine turf, Rose of Sharon, and Pecan, Red Oak and Red Bud trees are also featured.

Leading up to the Capitol's south doors is the Great Walk. This beautiful walkway is 25 feet wide, 500 feet long, lined with Texas Live Oaks, and connects the Capitol to one of Austin's most important streets - Congress Avenue.
