Terrell Place Rooftop Renovation: Washington, DC

Eighth Floor, Before: Prior to our arrival, demo was still being carried out on the eighth and ninth floors. This photo exhibits the previous finish condition of the existing 8th floor roof prior to renovation.

Trade Coordination: The Terrell Place renovation consisted of approximately 21,000 square feet of exterior renovation that took place concurrently with the renovation of the interior portions of the same floors. Coordinating with with the many other trades working in and moving through our workspace posed a significant challenge.

Schedule Demands: Like many renovation projects many "discoveries" during the construction phase slowed the installation process. To meet our clients' deadline we managed two cranes on a single Saturday during a snow storm hoisting over 140 lifts of material to the roof.

Eighth Floor, West View: Powdercoated aluminum planters were installed adjacent to the roof's ADA access ramp constructed out of concrete unit paving and tapered rigid insulation.

Eighth Floor, East View: Grading, plantings, pavers on pedestals and bench furnishings were furnished and installed.

Eighth Floor, South View: Pavers, plantings, furnishings and decorative stone border were installed across the entire eighth floor.

Ninth Floor, Top of Staircase: Plantings and pavers continued across the ninth floor.

Ninth Floor, North View: Pavers and plantings were installed weaving throughout the ninth floor cabanas. Each cabana was elevated above the roof deck and required individual ramps constructed out of concrete unit pavers, pedestals and tapered rigid insulation.
