This historical Denver house was built in 1907. The clients purchased this home in hopes of returning it to its original splendor, while still giving them all the modern amenities of a new home.
-
Reworked entry porch and adjacent planting beds to give more opportunity for greenery in this hardscape heavy entryway.
-
Clipped, formal hedges were added to frame the driveway adding grandeur and formality as you enter the estate. The different shapes added complexity while staying true to its historical roots.
-
A before picture of the driveway and the existing mature trees that our team had to work around and protect.
-
Stamp concrete pavers were added to the driveway, building around the trees, making an even grander statement as you pull up to the front entrance of the home. The client also requested that the entire driveway was heated.
-
The formal gardens in the front of the house are a mixture of boxwoods and annuals giving the house a true English garden vibe.
-
This vignette courtyard is off the side of the home, the client wanted an inviting patio that welcomed community interaction, since this was the only patio that had street access.
-
We repurposed existing water feature sculpture to be a focal point on the end of long axis of the west lawn.
-
Formal lawn relating to historic nature of the original landscape of the home, surrounded by dry laid limestone with drainage infiltration system.
-
Before picture where you can see we were working with a completely new slate and a very old historic site that had unfortunately been unkept for several years.
-
We matched both the upper patio and lower dining terrace with the same stone, making sure to match all the details of the original home. Throughout the entire property we kept the same theme of clipped, formal hedges containing less structured less formal plantings in the backdrop.
-
All finishes were carefully selected making every outdoor terrace or patio feel like a true extension of the home.
-
In between the green house and the pool, we installed a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. Placement allowed our client to easily use the grill and transport to either the pool cabana or the dining terrace.
-
Our philosophy for this site was less is more. The small chaise lounge patio was designed for just enough room to enjoy pool but not over-burdening the site with hardscapes. The patio leads to exploding stepping stones with ground cover in between to minimize impact of hardscape.
-
The client is from the east coast and loves hydrangeas, so we made sure to add large potted hydrangea pots to frame the formal pool cabana.
-
Simple, elegant pool terminated by historically accurate and functional pool cabana, which allows access to a hidden spa.
