The Pearl Brewery was founded in 1881 and is now home to an expansive multi-use development, including apartments, restaurants, retailers, public spaces and more. Pictured here, Hotel Emma was originally Pearl’s brewhouse and has been a San Antonio landmark ever since.

Rainwater is collected and stored in recycled beer cisterns to supplement irrigation of the environmentally responsible, natural, low water use landscape. The landscape of attractive native and adapted plants embodies the natural character of San Antonio while requiring less water.

Preserving the history and architecture of the area has remained a priority at the Pearl, while also highlighting the rich culture San Antonio has to offer.

The Pearl hosts four public spaces, one of which Partiko, is shown here. Partiko is home to the weekly farmers market, ongoing musical series, holiday market and much more. The artificial turf is essential and allows this space to look beautiful and inviting 365 days a year.

The Pearl hosts foot traffic of 14,000+ people a week by offering a wide variety of attractions, dining, and retail. Landscaping is to remain bright, open, and utilized in enhancing the beauty of the architecture.

The Silos in front of Hotel Emma are a focal point of The Pearl. Trumpet ivy is featured all around the property, giving The Pearl and consistent vintage feel.

This lush courtyard is another of the three public spaces at The Pearl, aptly named The Plaza. People often use this space to meet for coffee under the chinquapin oaks or host outdoor yoga sessions on the artificial turf. No matter the occasion, this green space is people and dog friendly.
