-
Because of the backyard’s sloping terrain, the client assumed they could only have a small back porch. We designed a way to give them an amazing lakeside patio that included a fireplace with pergola.
-
The only access to the site was via a steep six-foot-wide cart path. To get large materials to the backyard, concrete, stone, and the fireplace insert were brought in pieces.
-
The patio and porch were positioned for an amazing view of the lake.
-
Patio, porch, and fireplace all tie together with materials and scale to allow for many different "rooms.”
-
The fireplace is the focal point of the patio, a monument that gets noticed even with the beautiful lake view. The pergola was designed to be unique but not block the lake view from inside the house.
-
Views of the lake were preserved from the porch seating area.
-
With the heaters on and a fire going, it’s a space that can be used almost year-round.
-
Night lighting with pathway, hardscape, and accent lights make the space warm and inviting even without using the heaters or the fireplace.
-
The night lighting is subtle and does not take away from great evening views of the lake.
-
The space is large enough to seat and entertain many guests.
-
The view from the lake of the outcropping walls and staircase that were built, creating a natural and inviting pathway.
-
The view coming up the natural pathway from the lake sets the house into the landscape and looks like it has always been on the narrow lot.
