From the street entrance a custom water feature, annuals and boxwood hedges direct visitors toward a sweeping drive lined by tall Sour Orange trees. (Columnar sour orange trees provide excellent screening in Arizona despite 120 temperatures in the summer. However, as the fruit is inedible, maintenance crews carefully hand remove all fruit each season)

A special blend of pea gravel was used on the driveway and must be kept raked at all times. Crews provide all horticultural care for a variety of plantings: boxwood, Japanese Privet, iceberg rose, Arabian lilac and pyracantha vines, to name a few.

At the main auto court privet topiaries and more annuals greet visitors.

Expansive lawns sweep out from the rear of the house. Bermuda grass is over-seeded each October with a blend of annual rye seed. The maintenance team provides all mowing, edging, fertilization and other turf care.

A jewel box of a dining room looks out on a fountain courtyard. All shrubs are trimmed with hand clippers for a controlled but natural look.

One of the auxiliary buildings holds garages, a gym and a guest house. Arbor crews maintain a variety of trees including Live Oak, Magnolia, Ancient Olives, Bradford pear and Italian cypress. The client is particularly fond of the trees, which are challenging to keep healthy in the Sonoran Desert.

Common to both Arizona and the Mediterranean a Bougainvillea (b.karst) is carefully espalied on the stone walls. The team uses custom made clear wall anchors to attach the vine which are all but invisible.

An interior courtyard features lush plantings of annuals that contrast against the antique pottery and ancient olive, both of which were sourced and installed for the client. Star Jasmine vine in full bloom scents the private courtyard.

Front entry plantings . Every detail is improtant including maintaining all the hardscape, bark mulch and planters.

The client loves to enjoy the pool. This photo was taken at the beginning of another hot Arizona summer, and if you look closely you can see the crews have applied a specialized foliar protectant to the privet topiaries to protect the leaves from the sun.
