The home sits at the base of the mountain ranges that flank the Hudson River. The multiple structures sit elevated on the bank of the river and are linked via stone stairways and walkways. There is also a peninsula, which was formerly a boat dock and staging area, that has been reclaimed as lawn space.
-
The property juts out into the Hudson River and mirrors the footprint of the docks and other structures constructed there in the 1800's. It hosts multiple sitting areas, a play area and a private kayak launch for the residents.
-
The property has year round views of the river and the mountains as well as an active river community of kayakers, small craft and tug boats. Mowing on tnto the property the site is difficult as the topography rapidly changes in areas as you leave the flat river bank.
-
Above the lawn areas sits a covered outdoor kitchen and sitting area which attaches to the pool and hot tub. The flagstone and stone work were installed by our company during the original install and are still maintained by us when needed. This area is frequently visits and claimed by local bird species which we relocate once eggs have hatched etc.
-
The property has a number of small garden style retaining walls to address the changes in grade as well as a bluestone patio courtyard which connects all of the structures. Big blue liriope, ostrich ferns and oakleaf hydrangea are the primary plants in the courtyard, the beds are prone to getting grassy weeds and vines which we monitor.
-
Stepping stone pathways through groundcover beds lead to additional seating areas that view the river. This seating area is off of the main house and has a fire pit, seating set on irregular flagstone with grass joints. Below sit white birch and viburnum which are used as a screen for mechanicals and kayak storage.
-
This sitting area also includes a fire pit and sits near the end of the peninsula. it is an ideal place to watch the boat traffic, enjoy the river view and has amazing color changes in the fall. We constructed this structure during the installation and have made repairs over the years due to storm damage.
-
The main lawn panel on the peninsula is flat and is used as a sports area, play area and a spot to observe the beautiful scenery that the Hudson River Valley offers. it is enclosed by a minimal fence to not disturb the view.

-
Elements of the original dock still remain on the property which now sit as part of the landscape throughout the property.

This overhead shot of the property shows the multiple structures that sit on the property, the bluestone courtyard and all of the paths and walks that link the different areas of the grounds.

A small seating area off of the main house which sits atop a small garden wall and is accessed via bluestone slab stair treads. This seating area sits on irregular stone flagging and has grass joints.
-
The bluestone courtyards connects the new home and structures to the original home that faces the small side street it is located on. The original home was constructed over 150 years ago and was renovated during the construction.

A view of the private beach that sits on the river bank and the additional lawn areas that sit below the main house. The beach and seawall require frequent weeding and debris inspections due to the river. We rake out and remove rocks etc 2-3 times per season.

An additional angle and view of the lower lawn area and the bluestone steps that link all of the gardens and structures near the river bank.

This photo shows the sea wall that supports the penninsula which wraps around the entire property. As mentioned earlier this area requires large amounts of hand weeding and debris/driftwood collection throughout the season. During storm surges the entire peninsula could be submerged by the river.
