Our client expected a vintage European Villa that is vibrant, meticulously manicured, and tells their unique story. Every aspect of the landscape is rigorously maintained by hand to flourish. These intricate details require extensive crew training. The weeping cherry tree touches the ground, the manicured wisteria covering the roofline is trained to grow, and the boxwood is maintained to be a continuous hedge with a rounded top.

The water feature in this photo imported from Italy is over a century in age. This hand-pruned area illustrates the craftsmanship required to achieve a neat, natural appearance. To avoid any harm to the Koi fish or damage to the house, the crew uses a half-moon shovel and sheep shears to prune the Creeping Jenny and stonecrop groundcover.

Each part of this client’s garden tells a unique story. The bed edges are neat and clean. The steel edging serves as a border between the lawn and the flower beds. The aroma of the lavender and roses allow visitors to experience the area with their individual senses: smelling the material, touching the soft lavender, and seeing the vibrant color of the roses all enhance the atmosphere of this European garden. To maintain the vibrant color of the lawn, the maintenance crew applies a special organic fertilizer to avoid harming the Koi fish. Certain parts of the lawn aren’t shaded, and thus they use two separate timers for watering to ensure that we can extend the watering window to be most effective for all the microclimates.

This secret garden is brimming with details. In the center is the Koi pond, a focal point that breathes life into the setting. Columnar beech trees with purple leaves create a private shady nook where people can sit and meditate in nature. Following the garden path, you’ll find multiple varieties of moss and ground cover.

This photo captures layers of beauty created by nature. The variegated leaf of the tri-colored beech is pleasing to the eye; the blooms of the hydrangeas and the vibrant green of the ginkgo are captivating; the ivy shows character; and a rose garden pictured in the background forms a charming walkway.
-
These climbing roses are important to our client because they offer fragrance, color, and abundance. Expert knowledge and artistry is required to train roses, maintain their health, and ensure a consistent bloom. The hydrangeas in the bed surrounding the base soften the overall aesthetic and contrast the rigid design of the roses.
-
The layered plant material creates the border of the landscape. Turf, mulch, hollies, lavender, and hydrangea are followed with hard fencing, steel edging, and shaped topiary boxwoods. Climbing vine on the house creates picturesque vantage points from any angle.

Everyone takes ownership of the landscape to maintain its beauty. A full team including irrigation managers, irrigation technicians, crew leaders, crew members, property care managers, and our maintenance directors, monitor different parts of the garden. Our irrigation team checks each drip line and nozzle on a consistent schedule to ensure that the perennials, annuals, and grass remain healthy. Our property care managers and crew members consistently prune, mow, edge, and walk the property to make sure all maintenance items are being completed. Our property care director will walk the property to check on the overall appearance of the property to make sure we keep our clients happy and satisfied.

In the foreground multicolored roses and salvia complement the French imported stones. Pictured in the background is a topiary Boxwood, hanging baskets, and Paperbark Maple. All of the perennials are hand pruned to enable their longevity and consistent bloom.

The crew works mindfully to preserve the vintage European aesthetic of the landscape. They use organic fertilizers on the lawn to protect the fish in the Koi pond, taking particular care to not damage the home while pruning the plant material on the walls and walkways.

The client desires that the lavender be maintained at a consistent height and for the boxwoods to be rounded on the top and squared on the sides. They selected an annual color palette for the pots that includes soft, elegant colors with a light and “airy” aesthetic. We spend many hours ensuring that the color remains continually healthy and the annuals bloom.
