The outdoor living space becomes an extension of the addition to this Old Worthington home. It exhibits a contemporary clean-lined design with rich palette of hardscape materials, all while framing and preserving a century-old Oak tree.
-
Blooms from the Little Lime Hydrangeas act as a frame which links the outdoor living space and the serene backyard setting
-
Granite steps ascend to the client’s sacred Oak tree, who’s critical root zone and surrounding elevation was maintained as a lawn panel “altar” during the implementation of the new outdoor living space.
-
A linear massing of White-Striped Hakone Grass soften the hard edges of the porcelain paving while masking the in-grade path lights that border the southern edge of the pool deck.
-
The foliage of Quick Fire Panicle Hydrangeas contrasts with the granite wall bordering the entry walkway to the pool. A mixture of Fragrant Sumac, Lady-In-Red Fern and Boston Ivy emerge beyond.
-
Large-format porcelain pavers repetitively extend the length of the pool until they reach a granite step terminus which frames the existing Oak tree and serves as the entrance to the rear yard.
-
The running bond pattern of the porcelain pavers erode and separate as they reach the face of a fitted-joint granite veneer retaining wall. Decorative crushed bluestone chip fills the void space between.
-
A custom granite fire pit feature serves as an anchor to the outdoor living space
-
Retaining wall behind the fireplace is the transition to the rest of the back yard
-
Clean walkway welcomes you from the driveway to the gorgeous yard.
-
This beautiful backyard now serves as a entertainment and relaxation space.
