This birds-eye view of the property showcases the expansive nature of the Fibonacci spiral and illustrates how the chambers of the spiral divide the property into various spaces. It also provides a quick view of the rhythm and repetition of the vast perennial plantings that display vibrant colors from June through August. Additionally, one can see how the access road was rerouted to maximize the living space for our client while still allowing the neighbors to enter their property uninterrupted.
-
In this before photo of the property, it is easy to compare it to photo number one and see the vast transformation that was undertaken for our clients. One can easily see how the public access road and neighboring driveways were rerouted to maximize the living space for our clients. On the left side and center of the photo, you can see how the forest was culled back as we removed dead and dying trees and invasive species making room for more than a hundred new Aspen trees and Swamp White Oak.
-
The Feather Reed Grass, Summer Beauty Allium, and Liatris provide a balance of color, texture, and repetition, forming part of a vast plant palette selected to ensure no shortage of botanical interest from June to August. The easily meandering double-border natural stone walkway offers our clients a leisurely garden walk to the front entrance.

This aerial view allows one to see the many spaces to relax, play, and entertain on this property. The patio space in the foreground contains an infinity-edge hot tub with multiple sitting areas, perfect for gatherings. You can also see the vast amounts of evergreen plant material selected for its deer resistance, providing privacy from and for the neighbors. This vantage point also offers another look at the Fibonacci spiral and the far western edge of the property, where a firepit space was crafted to allow our clients a woodland retreat for family s’mores or a weenie roast after a day on the lake.
-
The lakeside patio enables one to lounge leisurely while taking in the views of the lake. Or one can relax in the infinity-edge hot tub. Along the shore is another natural stone patio that leads to the pier. This property was designed to contain all that is needed for the best lake living.
-
This property was designed to provide plenty of space for everyone to feel comfortable when our clients host large groups of family and friends. The lakeside patio can be accessed via the walkout basement or by the granite steps that flank the patio. This corner of the lakeside patio offers a quiet place for conversation or ample seating during a warm summer night party, creating a perfect setting for relaxation and socializing.
-
A natural stone patio along the shoreline of beautiful Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, creates a quiet, reflective space for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Just past the patio, granite steps provide safe and easy access to the pier and lake shore.
-
This green-roofed structure, clad in natural stone, houses the mechanicals for the hot tub. The design of the exterior was inspired by 19th-century ice houses, which were once prevalent along lakes in the Midwest when ice was harvested to keep food and beverages cold. The roof is covered with a collection of sedum, and above the door is a 300 million-year-old shell fossil that our team sourced from Madagascar to incorporate into the facade to complement the Fibonacci spiral theme, adding a touch of historical and natural beauty to the structure.
-
If you're living by a lake in Wisconsin, an outdoor kitchen is practically essential. The grill is perfect for cooking brats, steaks, or a fresh catch from the lake. The granite countertops offer ample workspace for preparing meals. The patio is ideal for hosting a small dinner party in a beautiful garden setting.
-
The overarching design of this project is inspired by the Fibonacci spiral, a natural mathematical pattern symbolizing order and beauty. The epicenter of the spiral is positioned within the driveway, which serves both the lake house and the guest house. The spiral is crafted from locally sourced limestone and inlaid within road-grade manufactured paving. The guest house is nestled serenely within the gardens, offering stunning views and a peaceful stay for family and friends visiting the property.
-
Looking west across the property, the view is dominated by the rhythm and repetition of vast quantities of perennials, native plants, and ornamental grasses. In the background is a revitalized forest of aspen trees. We supplemented the mature aspen with hundreds of new trees after clearing the forest of invasive species and dead or dying ash trees. The gardens were designed to stimulate the senses, with color and texture coming to life from June through August.
-
From this perspective, you look across the expansive turf bordering the guest house. The turf is swaled to create an unobstructed path for rainwater that rushes through this area during typical Wisconsin summer thunderstorms. Out of view are dry stream beds that collect water from the swales, allowing it to flow through a culvert and continue to the wetland on the west side of the property. In the center of the photo stands a massive natural stone fireplace with a gas insert. In the foreground are free-standing, rugged natural stone accent walls designed to look as though they have been on the property for hundreds of years.
-
This aerial perspective provides a sense of the scale of the freestanding natural stone fireplace. The fireplace offers a unique ambiance and privacy from the camp to the north. In the background of the photo, more than forty Douglas fir trees, which we planted, also contribute to the privacy of the northern camp. The large guest house patio offers visitors a retreat during extended stays, allowing them to enjoy the expansive gardens.

This photo shows an area we call the Woodland Meadow. One of the client's requests was for a large green space suitable for summer picnics with family and yard games. This area also functions as a parking space for cars when entertaining large groups. In the upper left of the photo, you can see a gravel parking area. Below that is a culvert that directs stormwater runoff to the west, where it flows easily to the wetland. Along the perimeter of the circular grass expanse, there are hundreds of aspen trees that we planted for our client.
-
The woodland meadow garden was designed to offer our client a tranquil space to enjoy Wisconsin woodlands. It features an elegant fire pit area with locally quarried stone, custom benches, a stone coffee table, and log stools. Integrated with a freestanding stone wall following the Fibonacci spiral and a wooden arbor matching the home's architecture, this space evokes mystery and harmony. Native plants and designed pathways replace the previously invasive woodland, making it the cherished centerpiece for family s'mores after a day on the lake.
-
A view looking west into the woodland captures the tranquility of sitting around a campfire on a warm Wisconsin night. The double-border natural stone path mirrors the walkway leading to the front door of the lake house. Alongside the walkway is a collection of native plants. The wooden archway symbolizes that you have arrived at a special, serene place—the kind of place our client dreamed of when we started this project.
